Featuring a two-ply construction with a ply of 7mil optically clear film over a 7.5mil black film, Evans Black Chrome provides strong durability combined with a sleek mirror-like appearance and a robust tone. The combination of opposing films (two different types and thicknesses) shortens sustain and provides an accentuated mid-to-low frequency response. Evans Level 360 technology is incorporated to extend the level playing surface of the drumhead, 360 degrees around the drum. (9mm,6ply All Birch Shells) The 9mm, 6-ply all-birch shell is thicker than modern drums and features a powerful attack and thick mid-bass. It received high praise for its clear sound image, which was a clear departure from the mellow, soft sound that was common with drums at the time. Also, the inside of the shell was painted in the same color as the specs from the early 1980s. (Classic Drum Sizes) The size of the tom tom is 10"x8", 12"x8", the floor tom is 16"x16", and the bass drum is 22"x14".
