Taking a tip from the Masterworks spectrum, Session Studio Select’s unparalleled shell combination of Masters-grade hardwood (4-ply Birch outer) and softer imported tonewood (2-ply African Mahogany inner) strikes a unique tonal dichotomy between top-end power and warm controlled resonance.

To give Session drums the flexibility players need to get the job done, all shell hardware elements are curated for tuning stability, sound improvement, and rugged durability.
These include SP30 bass drum spurs with spring loaded retractable spike, Session-style RL Lugs, bridge-style LB40 Floor Tom Brackets, OptiMount four-point tom suspension mounts, R40 Air Suspension Floor Tom Feet, Die-Cast Bass Drum Claws, and Superhoop II Triple-Flanged Hoops.
Each of these hardware pieces lends not only to the tuning and function of each drum, but also to the overall sound of the total drum kit.

Superhoop II
A sturdy triple-flanged hoop at optimum 2.3mm thickness, each is identity stamped and made for accurate and secure tuning in play without inhibiting overall shell resonance.
OptiMount Tom Isolation System
Pearl's four-point tom suspension system attaches to each tom at four corresponding tension rod points and creates a firm hold on the tom in play with flexible positioning. By pulling the mounting hardware off the shell, each drum is free to speak with its intended voice.
RL Lugs
A simple, sleek lug that adds weight to the shell for increased volume.
